Letter to the Community from the Dean

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Since 1978, New England’s only veterinary school has enjoyed a wonderful fellowship with the veterinarians and pet owners of the region, children with a passion for learning, and our campus’ host communities of Grafton and Westborough, Massachusetts. Our faculty, staff, and students live throughout the area, and Cummings School is woven into the very fabric of the surrounding community.

Over the years, we have expanded our offerings, including educational programs for young students. We also are proud of our commitment to our ongoing community programs and support funds. We consider this outreach to be a key component of our mission of research, teaching and service.

Cummings School is committed to increasing the diversity of its student body, and a number of efforts by students, staff, and faculty at local elementary, middle, high schools and colleges are aimed at increasing awareness of the veterinary profession among under-represented groups. The School develops and hosts an annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) conference for middle school students. Adventures in Veterinary Medicine (AVM), which will soon celebrate its twenty-fifth year, offers career exploration programs for prospective veterinarians at the middle school, high school, college, and adult levels.

We offer a number of ways to interact with our faculty, our students, and our campus. Join us in September for our annual Open House. Register your dog to use our Farm Field and its nearly five-acre off leash area, or explore the many other ways in which we support the surrounding community.

At its core, Cummings School’s mission is education—and our faculty and students make themselves available whenever possible to work with students of all levels. Please explore this site to learn more about our outreach programs, available both on our campus and at your school or organization.

We are proud to call ourselves your neighbors and look forward to greeting you.
